Game of War: 15 Things You Didn’t Know (Part 1)

Game of War has quickly become one of the most popular and highly regarded freemium mobile games out there. However, despite the fact that the game has spent a considerable amount of time in the spotlight and under the scrutiny of the public eye, there are still some things that many people don’t know. With that in mind, here we present our list of 15 things you probably didn’t know about Game of War. Check out part one below, and stay tuned for part two, coming soon!

Number Fifteen: It Ran an Ad Campaign That Cost $40 Million. Game of War might just be a mobile freemium game, but it’s got some serious money to back it up. The ad campaign – you know, the one featuring Kate Upton – cost a whopping $40 million.

Number Fourteen: It Makes $1 Million Every Single Day. At least. The game has been popular for quite some time, but what most people don’t realize is how much money it makes every day – upwards of $1 million. Interestingly, most users burn out on the game pretty quickly, so it probably needed to spend that $40 million on its ad campaign to pull in new users on a regular basis.

Number Thirteen: Someone Spent $46,000 Playing the Game. All by himself, too. The person in question was a 15-year-old Belgian teenager who used his grandfather’s credit card to spend $46,000 on the game.

Number Twelve: It’s Got Some Interesting Easter Eggs. One particular easter egg in the game involved an Inferno Event that required absolutely no points to acquire the Tier 1 prize. The prize was good, too – 30,000 gold, 2,000,000 silver, and a 30 day Speed Up.

Number Eleven: It Draws Inspiration From Monty PythonMany of the foes featured in the game have historical origins, such as the Minotaur and the Krampus. The rabbit, however, was inspired by Monty Python and The Holy Grail, and like in the film, it grows fangs when it’s attacked.

Number Ten: The Splash Screen Changes on the Holidays. The splash screen is known to change depending on the monster that’s attacking the user. However, the screen also changes on the holidays. On Father’s Day, for instance, the screen featured a warrior holding a “#1 Dad” mug.

Number Nine: Users Can Attack the Town’s Citizens. For users who want to do damage but don’t have enough troops, attacking the townspeople is an option. Users can simply go into the city and tap on citizens to witness them suffer at their hands. Stay tuned for part two of our list of 15 things you didn’t know about Game of War, coming soon!
